Terms of Service

These terms govern your use of Portfolio9, a Bitcoin portfolio tracking app. By using the app, you agree to them. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the app.

In short

Portfolio9 is a tool, not a financial advisor, tax preparer, or wallet.
Apple and Google handle subscription billing — we don’t.
All data is stored on your device. Back it up yourself.
The app is provided “as is” with no warranty.
Disputes are governed by Georgia law and resolved in Georgia courts.

i.What Portfolio9 is

Portfolio9 is a software tool that lets you track your Bitcoin holdings on your own device. It is not a wallet, an exchange, or a financial advisor. It cannot send, receive, or hold Bitcoin on your behalf. It exists to help you record and analyze the transactions you’ve made elsewhere.

ii.What Portfolio9 is not

Not financial advice. Anything the app shows — including profit/loss calculations, performance vs. Bitcoin, suggested goals, descriptions of your trading patterns, the Bitcoin Rainbow Chart, the Halving Spiral, halving countdowns, UTXO consolidation cost estimates, fee-rate suggestions, or any other analytic or visualization — is informational only. None of it is a recommendation to buy, sell, hold, consolidate, or take any other action with Bitcoin or any other asset. The valuation bands, color codings, and trend visualizations in the app are popular community tools that have no predictive power. Do your own research and consult a licensed financial advisor before making investment decisions.
Not tax advice. The CSV export is a list of your transactions (date, BTC amount, USD value, and tag); it is not a tax report. Portfolio9 does not compute cost basis (FIFO/LIFO/HIFO), capital gains, or any other tax-specific calculation. Use the export as raw input for your own tax preparer or accounting software, not as a substitute for tax advice.
Not a custodian. Portfolio9 never holds your Bitcoin, your private keys, or any other custodial asset. Importing an xpub gives the app read-only visibility into a wallet — it cannot move funds.
Not a fee oracle. Estimated transaction costs (e.g. for UTXO consolidation) are approximations based on third-party fee data and assumptions about transaction structure. Actual on-chain fees you pay through your own wallet may differ significantly.

iii.Subscriptions

Portfolio9 offers an optional Premium subscription. Pricing and terms displayed in the app at the time of purchase apply. The current standard pricing is $2.99/month or $25/year, with a 7-day free trial for first-time subscribers.

Subscriptions are processed and billed by Apple’s App Store or Google Play, depending on your platform. Refunds, cancellations, and disputes are handled through them, not through us. We don’t have access to your payment information.
After a free trial, your subscription automatically renews for the price shown in the app at the time of purchase, unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends. Cancel any time in your device’s subscription settings.
We don’t pro-rate refunds for partial periods. If the App Store or Play Store grants you a refund, the subscription benefits end at that time.

iv.Your data

Portfolio9 stores everything on your device. We don’t have copies, we can’t recover lost data, and we can’t restore deleted transactions. You are responsible for backing up your data. Premium subscribers can export to CSV at any time.

If you uninstall the app, switch devices without backup, or use Settings → Delete all data, your records are gone.

v.Acceptable use

When you use Portfolio9, you agree:

To use the app for lawful purposes only.
Not to attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or modify the app in ways that violate Apple’s or Google’s terms.
Not to use the app to facilitate any illegal activity.
To accept responsibility for the accuracy of the data you enter (we have no way to validate it).

vi.Third-party services

The app makes outbound calls to mempool.space for Bitcoin price data and (optionally, if you import an xpub) to Trezor’s Blockbook or another Bitcoin block explorer of your choice for wallet balance lookups. We don’t control these services and aren’t responsible for their availability, accuracy, or privacy practices. If they go down, the app may show stale prices or fail to update wallet balances.

vii.Disclaimer of warranties

Portfolio9 is provided “as is” and “as available”. We make no warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.

We don’t guarantee:

That the app will be available, error-free, or uninterrupted.
That price data, performance metrics, or analytics are accurate.
That xpub balance lookups will reflect the most recent on-chain state.
That fee-rate suggestions or transaction cost estimates match what you’ll actually pay when broadcasting from your own wallet.
That valuation bands (e.g. the Bitcoin Rainbow Chart) or cycle visualizations (e.g. the Halving Spiral) reflect any underlying truth about Bitcoin’s future price.
That halving date estimates are exact (block times vary; the actual date will drift).
That the app is suitable for any particular purpose, including tax preparation, financial reporting, or investment decisions.

viii.Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for:

Any losses arising from financial decisions you made based on data shown in the app.
Any losses arising from inaccurate, incomplete, or stale data displayed by the app.
Any losses arising from data loss caused by uninstall, device failure, your own actions, or third-party services going down.
Any consequential, incidental, indirect, or punitive damages.

In any case, our total liability for anything related to the app will not exceed the amount you’ve paid us in subscription fees in the 12 months before the claim. If you’ve never paid for a subscription, our total liability is zero.

ix.Changes to these terms

We may update these terms occasionally. Material changes will be announced in the app or on this page, with an updated “Last updated” date at the top. Continued use of the app after changes means you accept the updated terms. If you disagree with the changes, please stop using the app.

x.Termination

You can stop using the app at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access to the app (including any active subscriptions) if you violate these terms. App Store and Play Store rules govern subscription terminations and refunds.

xi.Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Georgia, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. Any disputes must be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Georgia, and you consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts.
