These terms govern your use of Portfolio9, a Bitcoin portfolio tracking app. By using the app, you agree to them. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the app.
What Portfolio9 is
Portfolio9 is a software tool that lets you track your Bitcoin holdings on your own device. It is not a wallet, an exchange, or a financial advisor. It cannot send, receive, or hold Bitcoin on your behalf. It exists to help you record and analyze the transactions you’ve made elsewhere.
What Portfolio9 is not
- Not financial advice. Anything the app shows — including profit/loss calculations, performance vs. Bitcoin, suggested goals, descriptions of your trading patterns, or any other analytic — is informational only. It is not a recommendation to buy, sell, or hold Bitcoin or any other asset. Do your own research and consult a licensed financial advisor before making investment decisions.
- Not tax advice. The app’s calculations of cost basis, profit/loss, and capital gains are simplified and may not match your jurisdiction’s tax rules. Use the CSV export as a starting point for your tax preparer, not as a substitute for one.
- Not a custodian. Portfolio9 never holds your Bitcoin, your private keys, or any other custodial asset. Importing an xpub gives the app read-only visibility into a wallet — it cannot move funds.
Subscriptions
Portfolio9 offers an optional Premium subscription. Pricing and terms displayed in the app at the time of purchase apply. The current standard pricing is $2.99/month or $25/year, with a 7-day free trial for first-time subscribers.
- Subscriptions are processed and billed by Apple’s App Store or Google Play, depending on your platform. Refunds, cancellations, and disputes are handled through them, not through us. We don’t have access to your payment information.
- After a free trial, your subscription automatically renews for the price shown in the app at the time of purchase, unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends. Cancel any time in your device’s subscription settings.
- We don’t pro-rate refunds for partial periods. If the App Store or Play Store grants you a refund, the subscription benefits end at that time.
Your data
Portfolio9 stores everything on your device. We don’t have copies, we can’t recover lost data, and we can’t restore deleted transactions. You are responsible for backing up your data. Premium subscribers can export to CSV at any time.
If you uninstall the app, switch devices without backup, or use Settings → Delete all data, your records are gone.
Acceptable use
When you use Portfolio9, you agree:
- To use the app for lawful purposes only
- Not to attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or modify the app in ways that violate Apple’s or Google’s terms
- Not to use the app to facilitate any illegal activity
- To accept responsibility for the accuracy of the data you enter (we have no way to validate it)
Third-party services
The app makes outbound calls to mempool.space for Bitcoin price data and (optionally, if you import an xpub) to Trezor’s Blockbook or another Bitcoin block explorer of your choice for wallet balance lookups. We don’t control these services and aren’t responsible for their availability, accuracy, or privacy practices. If they go down, the app may show stale prices or fail to update wallet balances.
Disclaimer of warranties
Portfolio9 is provided “as is” and “as available”. We make no warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.
We don’t guarantee:
- That the app will be available, error-free, or uninterrupted
- That price data, performance metrics, or analytics are accurate
- That xpub balance lookups will reflect the most recent on-chain state
- That the app is suitable for any particular purpose, including tax preparation, financial reporting, or investment decisions
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for:
- Any losses arising from financial decisions you made based on data shown in the app
- Any losses arising from inaccurate, incomplete, or stale data displayed by the app
- Any losses arising from data loss caused by uninstall, device failure, your own actions, or third-party services going down
- Any consequential, incidental, indirect, or punitive damages
In any case, our total liability for anything related to the app will not exceed the amount you’ve paid us in subscription fees in the 12 months before the claim. If you’ve never paid for a subscription, our total liability is zero.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms occasionally. Material changes will be announced in the app or on this page, with an updated “Last updated” date at the top. Continued use of the app after changes means you accept the updated terms. If you disagree with the changes, stop using the app.
Termination
You can stop using the app at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access to the app (including any active subscriptions) if you violate these terms. App Store and Play Store rules govern subscription terminations and refunds.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of GA / UNITED STATES, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. Any disputes must be resolved in the courts of that jurisdiction.
